Cakes Underground
Dec 18, 2018
On Wednesday 5th December, the incredible staff at Sudbury Town and Ealing Common station held two cake sales, raising vital funds for the Neonatal Unit at Northwick Park Hospital (NPH).
The ‘We Care’ Tube Cake Sale served up an array of wonderful baked goods to generous rush hour commuters in exchange for donations which will support our youngest and most vulnerable patients at NPH.
The events were promoted across 14 London Underground Stations with recorded announcements by two local children – Harry (10) and Holly (7). A number of the cakes were kindly donated by local business: Purple Owl Cakes, Cake Box and The Apple Tree coffee shop.
Collectively, both stations raised an amazing £1,600 for the Neonatal Unit.
Cheyvonne Barber-Welch, Customer Service Supervisor at TFL said that she and her colleagues had been, “overwhelmed by the support and generosity the event received from our customers in the form of cake donations to raise funds.’ Cheyvonne added, “we decided that the event should be held for the benefit of an organisation that serves our customers and is at the heart of the community and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit was a fantastic cause to raise money for.’
LNWH Charity and the Neonatal Unit team would like to thank Cheyvonne, Area Manager Michael Banjo and all the incredible LU staff and their generous customers for the astonishing support.
