WeLVIC to Wembley Walk
Aug 09, 2019
On Sunday 4 August six friends walked 5.9km from Northwick Park Hospital to Wembley Stadium to raise awareness of Cardiovascular Disease, which claims the lives of 160,000 in the UK every year and is the most common cause of death in Harrow.
Pai, Navi, Priyan, Neera, Ahaljan and Mithu chose the route to highlight the fact that a staggering 5.9 million people in England are currently living with the condition which can lead to heart attacks, angina and strokes.
Pai’s passion for fighting this disease originated from her Father, Mr Selva Theivacumar, and his work as a Vascular Consultant & Endovascular Surgeon at Northwick Park Hospital’s brand new WeLVIC Centre, an innovative £1.5m project funded by LNWH Charity (read more).
Pai and Navi said:
‘We are so happy to have supported the work of the WeLVIC Centre and our local hospital by completing this challenge to raise funds in aid of patients with cardiovascular disease”.
It took the group – including Pai’s Mum and Dad - around 3 hours to complete the trek and they have so far raised an amazing £1,500 for WeLVIC.
