Vascular Unit Graced with Artwork
May 05, 2020
Since its grand opening in June 2019, our West London Vascular and Interventional Centre (WeLVIC) at Northwick Park Hospital has provided treatment to thousands of patients.
However, as a brand new unit, WeLVIC’s walls were somewhat bare and clinical, like most hospital wards are, and not representative of the unique and innovative nature of the unit itself.
Following an approach by LNWH Charity, WeLVIC has recently received a number of beautiful artworks kindly donated by University of Westminster art students from both Fine Art Mixed Media (Fine Art) and Illustration & Visual Communication (IVC) BA courses.
Olivia Woolhouse (IVC), Nathalie Dickson (IVC), Karina Kaye (Fine Art), Bella Hall (Fine Art) and Millie Olateju (Fine Art) all kindly gifted their stunning works of art for the benefit of patients and staff at the unit.
These generous donations were made possible through the support of Emma Dodson (Senior Lecturer on the Illustration & Visual Communication BA course at Westminster University) and Dr Kamran Modaresi (WeLVIC’s Clinical Vascular Scientist), following initial discussions in early 2019.
Emma stated that:
“It has been very rewarding to be able to help bring our students’ wonderful artwork to such an appreciative audience. Dr Modaresi’s enthusiasm, energy and support have been invaluable in making this project happen.”
All the artwork displayed has been well-received by patients and staff alike, with many patients commenting on how much they enjoy looking at them whilst waiting to be called for their appointments or walking to and from clinics.
LNWH Charity and WeLVIC are very grateful to the students’ for their truly incredible artwork and their amazing generosity: we wish them all the best of luck in their studies.
