Pamela Singh OBE steps up to fundraise for #TeamLNWH
Apr 19, 2021
Seventy-seven-year-old Pamela Singh is a force of nature. She’s on an epic trial to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to the staff here at Northwick Park & St. Mark's Hospital by walking 26.2 miles and raising funds to support the local NHS staff across Brent, Ealing and Harrow.
Motivated by the care she received at the Orthopaedic Department at the Northwick Park Hospital and her own GP practice in Harrow, Mrs Singh is now seeking to stand by her local NHS staff at a very crucial time for the NHS.
Talking about her personal connection to the hospitals, she says, “The staff have been amazing. Dr Kevin Flinson and their team are very special people. Their passion and determination to give the best care to their patients are evident in every little thing they do.”
Mrs Singh has lived in Harrow for over fifty years and is hoping to thank the NHS staff for their hard work through the pandemic. “The last year has been terribly difficult for all of us, but the Key workers were a constant source of support, courage and hope. The National Health System (NHS) and school staff being most important to us all. This is my way of saying thank you to the hospitals who’ve done so much for me over the years.”
Mrs Singh has spent many decades working in education and retired as the Head Teacher of Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic School in 2004. Not one to rest on past laurels, Mrs Singh continued to work as a Consultant Advisor across the Diocese of Westminster and currently is the Governor at St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School & Nursery. In 2005, she made the New Year's Honours List and received an OBE for her contribution to education and her work in the community. She also received a Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice from Pope John Paul II for her distinguished service to the Catholic Church in 2004.
The 26.2 mile marathon walk is no small feat as Mrs Singh is working on recovering from some mobility difficulties after she broke her leg while helping a friend in 2015, but fitness is a way of life for Mrs Singh, who prefers regular swims and Tai Chi classes to keep fit and healthy.
At LNWH Charity, we rely solely on the amazing fundraising efforts of generous people like Mrs Singh to provide our lifesaving services to the most critically ill patients and look after the well-being of our treasured NHS staff.
With your help, we can get Mrs Singh much closer to her goal!
