Butterfly volunteers comfort end-of-life patients

Jan 02, 2024

Thanks to our funding, LNWH NHS Trust have recruited nine specialist end-of-life Butterfly volunteers to offer companionship and comfort to dying patients and their loved ones. Nine more volunteers have been recruited and will soon begin their training to add to this amazing service.

In just over two months the Butterflies visited 31 patients over 84 visits, supporting 52 visitors and gave over 120 hours of their time.

They’ve had fantastic feedback from relatives and friends. The wife of a patient was really grateful and appreciated being able to take a break so she could go home and have a shower for the first time in days.
