Leaving a gift in your will

Support a cause you care about

Since 1987, when Meadow House Hospice began, we have cared for thousands of terminally ill patients and their families.  We provide a fully trained palliative care hospice service for people living in the boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow at the end stages of life in their own homes and in the hospice itself.

While all the support we receive is greatly appreciated, few people realise how heavily we rely on legacies in wills to ensure the future of our life enhancing service.

You can help to make a difference to a small local charity that you care about and which you or a loved one may need to use in the future. After family, perhaps you could consider remembering Meadow House in your will.

You may already have a will, in which case a solicitor will draw up a document called a codicil to amend your will and include your donation instruction.

And remember, you can always change your mind if your circumstances change or you decide to support another charity. You can amend your will as many times as you like – it is completely your choice.

Why is it important to make a will

A will is the best way to ensure your wishes are carried out after your death. If you die without a will, it not only causes your family the pain of dealing with your affairs, but also means someone else decides who gets your money, and in what shares.

This could mean someone who you would want to receive money from your estate gets nothing or your favourite organisation, which you would have liked to support with a gift, isn’t remembered.

Making a will legally states how you want your estate to be divided up, and these wishes will be carried out.
