Charity participants walk across iconic London bridges to raise funds

Jul 11, 2022

LNWH Colleagues put their training shoes to walk for LNWH Charity and donned comfortable attire, to participate in the second annual London Bridges Walk event on Sunday 26 June 2020.

London Bridges Walk is a fun, family-friendly walking challenge, taking in many of London’s historic bridges between Vauxhall and Tower Bridge.

LNWH Charity was one of four partners including St Mark’s Hospital Foundation, Red Lion Pouch Support and Hillingdon Hospital Charity, working with The Griffin Institute, to execute the fundraising event.

All participants regardless of what charitable organisation they were supporting, took on a walking distance of either 6.5 or 13 miles on the day of London Bridges Walk.

LNWH Charity had a total of 16 walkers taking on the challenge, with the main fundraising goal of assisting the hospital charity to continue its work on improving dementia services at all three LNWH NHS Trust sites.

Helen Hardy, LNWH NHS Trust Deputy Chief Nurse, who walked for LNWH Charity, said:

“London Bridges Walk 2022 was such a great experience, the weather was simply glorious on the day and I really enjoyed taking in the wonderful scenery, whilst exercising and supporting our hospital charity.”

David Jenkins, LNWH Charity Director, commented:

“On behalf of LNWH Charity, I wish to extend my gratitude to all the people who completed the London Bridges Walk and made the pledge to raise as much as they could, to help us further improve the patient experience.

“It’s acts of kindness like this that really makes a positive impact on both patients and staff at our hospital sites and the charity is extremely grateful.”

Anyone wishing to participate in London Bridges Walk 2023, should email Ian Tate, Fundraising Event Manager at The Griffin Institute.
