Dementia Team launch Forget Me Not Appeal
Jun 20, 2019
A group of nifty knitters, including veterans and enthusiastic newcomers, produced a wonderfully woolly supply of Forget Me Not flowers that helped raise over £300 for our Dementia Teams across our three hospitals.
Led by Dementia Lead Emma Smith, LNWH Charity were proud to support her Dementia Champions raise awareness of dementia which can affect a person’s memory, language, behaviour and cognitive abilities. With the knitted flowers, the Team were able to also raise vital funds for their service, with donations collected ring-fenced for the benefit of dementia patients at Ealing, Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospitals.
“The Dementia Team would like to say a huge thank you to all those who knitted flowers for us and to the people who visited our stalls and gave so generously. We are amazed at how much support there is for the Team and the work we do. The Dementia Team would also like to say a further thank you to LNWH Charity for their support in raising the profile of the Forget Me Not appeal.”
There are over 850,000 people currently living with dementia in the UK, with the figure set to rise sharply over the next few years. Patients with dementia can sometimes need specialised assistance when they are in hospital and Emma and her Team provide support and advice to staff so they can deliver the best healthcare possible.
LNWH Charity were proud to help the Dementia Team during their special week and would also like to extend our thanks to all those who knitted and donated.
