Ealing Half Marathon Heroes for Meadow House

Nov 01, 2019

Over 50 fantastic runners tackled the Ealing Half Marathon this September in aid of Meadow House Hospice, which was honoured to be one of the race’s two 'Gold Charities'.

Now in its seventh year, the run has established itself as the country’s highest rated half marathon, with 5,000 participants taking up the challenge in 2019.

For Meadow House the high profile 'Gold' status helped the hospice recruit its largest group of runners since it first took part in 2015, including Bernardo Villazon (pictured) who finished in the top 400 fastest runners.

Conditions were cool and overcast, perfect for the run, with the threatened torrential rain never materialising. Spectators lined the route to cheer on the runners that included staff from LNWH NHS Trust, relatives of patients and members of the community that Meadow House serves.

Meadow House Voluntary Services Manager, Lynne May (pictured with comedian, Ealing resident and race starter Shappi Khorsandi above) said:

“Meadow House would like to say a huge thank you to all the incredible runners and their supporters for championing us and completing the half marathon. In addition, we would like to thank the organisers who do such a brilliant job putting on this amazing event every year.”

Located at Ealing Hospital, Meadow House is a 15-bed inpatient unit and day hospice providing specialist palliative care and support to patients and their families in the London boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow.

So far the wonderful Team Meadow House runners have raised over £20,000.
