Head of safeguarding, Ludmila Ibesaine, successfully launched this awareness campaign in July, which we are pleased to fund.

The launch was supported by key partner agencies such as the local Safeguarding Adult and Children Partnership Board, local Violence against Women and Girls group and the Metropolitan Police. A very powerful domestic abuse victim video was also shown to those who attended.

Ludmila said: “North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust was the first implementer of this campaign, and we’re the second. We are completely committed to the initiative and taking the campaign forward together with compassion, to help make a difference to domestic abuse victims.

“The knowledge shared at the event was invaluable and will hopefully empower staff to ask patients “How safe do you feel?” as part of their everyday normal clinical practice.

“We have started working with staff in our Emergency Departments and Maternity unit to support them through the campaign.”

"Going forward there are lots of initiatives being planned that staff and patients can benefit from and these will be advertised in the coming months."
