Taking on the London Marathon for LNWH Charity
Feb 02, 2026
Our very own David Warunge, an assistant manager in the patient access centre at Central Middlesex Hospital will be lacing up his trainers to join thousands of others running the London Marathon on Sunday 26 April.
He says: “I’ve always been very active, playing football and going to the gym, and I really enjoyed running at school. I was looking for a long-distance running challenge, and when the Charity senior fundraising officer mentioned that they had a place at the London marathon, I was delighted to take it.
“Training is in full swing and going well. I’ve signed up to the London Marathon beginners training plan for hints and tips on building up to long distance running over 16 weeks, and it’s really helpful. It includes rest days and walk days, to give my body time to recover between runs.
“I also attended one of their workshops about what it takes to complete a marathon and got lots of advice from experienced runners.
“It’s certainly going to be a challenge, but I’m really looking forward to it and I’m especially proud to be raising money for my Trust and supporting the incredible work of our Charity.
“Every donation will help fund vital initiatives that enhance patient care, comfort, and experience.
“I’m getting my playlist ready to keep me motivated and my goal is to complete the marathon in under three and half hours, but I’ll be happy with four.
Please get behind David and donate as much as you can to his fundraiser, because together, we can make a real difference www.justgiving.com/page/davidlnwh
