Breda knows all too well the heartbreak cancer can bring. Both she and her husband faced bowel cancer, and in 2012 she sadly lost him to the disease.

Then, in January this year, Breda received the devastating news that she also had bowel cancer. Her treatment began immediately.

She said: “I had been lucky enough never to need hospital treatment before, so the whole experience felt overwhelming. The hospital was so busy, and there were many people involved in my care, but every one of them was so kind. I couldn’t have asked for better care.”

Today, just eight months later, Breda is in great health and embracing every precious moment of life.

Moved by the kindness that carried her through one of the hardest times of her life, she made a generous donation to cancer services at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust and St Mark’s Hospital.

“I want to give a special thank you to my consultant, Mr Anthony Antonio, Dr Ashi Denton and their teams for their extraordinary care and compassion. I truly don’t know how I would have made it through without them.”

“I would encourage people to donate and give whatever they can. Every donation, no matter the size, helps teams provide vital care to people when they need it most. None of us knows when we, or someone we love, might need the support of our incredible NHS.”
