Pharmacy on wheels success
October 14, 2024
We’re delighted to give you an update on how the pharmacy on wheels project is coming along.
You might remember that the project sees pharmacy technicians on wards dispensing medicine and talking to patients, which means they can go home from hospital more quickly.
It has been successfully rolled out across all three hospital sites and there has been an increase in TTA’s, a term used when patients take medication home (to take away), in all areas. Pharmacists also counsel patients about how and when they should take their medication.
On Haldane ward at Northwick Park Hospital, since July, there have been 95 TTA’s, with the average turnaround time of 18 minutes.
In the new orthopaedic hub at Central Middlesex Hospital, there have been 300 TTA’s since July, and at Ealing, since September, there has also been an increase.
